I want to inform everyone about important upcoming events sponsored by ASNV.
Wrightslaw One Day Conference – October 14, 2010 (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA 22401
Special Education attorney Pete Wright brings his expertise to lead a one-day special education law and advocacy program which will focus on four areas:
- special education law, rights and responsibilities
- tests and measurements to measure progress & regression
- SMART IEPs
- Introduction to tactics & strategies for effective advocacy
The program is designed for parents, educators, advocates and attorneys who represent children with disabilities regarding special education.
This program is a must for parents struggling through the school system and advocating for their child’s special education needs. Advocates in health or law who represent such children and families should attend.

Arts for Autism Gala – November 6, 2010 from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm Clarendon Ballroom, Arlington, VA
The program celebrates artistic talents of children and adults with autism. Over 50 well-known models from the metro area will be our Champion Fundraisers. Proceeds will fund mini grants for individuals and families with autism.

Walk for Autism – October 23, 2010 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Prince William County Fairgrounds. The program has lots of activities for children and will feature a 5k walk and a 5k run. For more information go to http://www.walkforautismva.org
